  • Heartbreak Hotel

This morning was a big, heartbreaking disappointment for Brieto, I mean BIG!

When Brie woke up this morning I checked Yahoo weather and decided it was a good day to go to Sea World (am clouds, high 82), so I informed her on the way to drop off daddy at work we were going to see Shamu today.  As usually she quickly told me "I too little for Shamu" (the Shamu Express kiddo rollercoaster, that I swear she will never be brave enough to ride) and then began to tell me all the things she would do at Sea World.

Before we could leave I first had a church Block Party conference call, so I promised her she could watch Sesame Street until I was off the phone, which is the first time she every has watched TV.  "Elmo Show, Elmo Show, Telly, Telly", she was excited!

Disappointment One -- Sesame Street was not on during it's regularly scheduled time, instead in was the play "Roots" in Spanish.

After my meeting we loaded up our car with a yummy picnic lunch and headed across town to Sea World.

Disappointment Two--Upon arriving, literally the moment we pull in, the clouds opened up and it begins to pour.

I also heartbroken by the sad look on my understanding little girl's face, quickly cheered her up by offering a trip to Chuck-E-Cheese.  While Brie had no idea what Chuck-E-Cheese was, she instantly became excited and her world was whole again.

Disappointment Three--The moment, literally the moment we pulled in, a public service announcement came on the radio, informing us that in thirty minutes Bexar County would be experiencing severe winds, softball size hail and flooding.

We then were forced to head straight home in order to beat the nonexistent "death" storm.

I tried to make up for the day by making a "tent" in the dinning room, having a picnic lunch underneath, playing "cheese" (a.k.a Brie photo shoot), dolls, kitchen and ball with Brie, but as soon as the rain clear away "outside" was all Brie could think of.  Robert and I being the softies we are promised Brie a trip to the park after dinner.  I mean the girl deserved it, after the day she had.

Disappointment Four--San Antonio parks are only open until 6pm in March.

No day, no matter how bad, is worse than the day your child is needlessly heartbroken.

While she screamed through her eniter professional photo shoot, she does enjoy playing "cheese" at home.

(I have now decided that in order to actually get a blog update posted, I'm not going to worry about typos, grammar and spelling.  I hope you don't mind either.)

  • Brie & Briar Updates

    • Both girls are Daddy's Girls, they fight for their fathers attention when he's home.  This is how he spends most of his mornings.

    • It appears our little lefty (Brie) is quite creative for she loves her weekly art class.  Robert and I are very impressed with the work she does, so much so we have dedicated a few of our household walls to her artwork.

    • Briar is a fat and happy little baby, weighing 18 pounds at 5 months.  In addition to the MANY bottle she drinks a day, Briar loves to munch on apples, pears, bananas, carrots and squash.  This week's new food is peas, we'll see how well she likes them, if she's not allergic of course.  Yes, she's are little allergist, still allergic to all gluten's, peaches and berries, it's a good thing SA has Sun Harvest (a whole store dedicated to natural living and allergy free foods).

    • Brieto is now officially potty trained, thanks to many potty books, M&M and her obsession with being clean it was a breeze.  Now with all the money we save in Brie diapers we can afford Briar's overpriced special formula.

    • Number 2 as Robert calls her is busy moving about, she rolls over, stands in her exer-causer and attempts to scoot on her tummy.  Briar also loves to watch her sister play, they often "talk" to each other while laughing hysterically.  Just today Briar was sitting in her exer-causer, Brie held Briar's hands and spun her around while singing "Ring Around the Rosie" it was so cute.

    • Sea World opened up this weekend for the season and we spent all of Friday there.  The girls loved it.  Briar enjoyed being outside in the fresh air, she spends most of her day strapped in the high chair for fear of her sister hurting her.  Brie loved playing on Shamo's harbor, a large cargo net, that is connect to many, many tubes that mom is too tall to stand up in, thus giving her a great workout.  She also loved the shows, not so sure if it was the popcorn or Sea Lions she enjoyed most, but there were many smiles nonetheless.

  • Good News

Good news, my tooth is healing on it's own.  Which means I do not need a root canal at the two week mark, YEAH!  Now I'm waiting another two months to see if it begins to change colors and rot (that just sounds to gross to me)!  I'm hoping I have surived another unnecessary trip to the dentist!!!!
